Perlach Forest

The Perlacher Forest is a 13.36 km² community-free forest area in the southeast of Munich. Together with the Grünwalder Forest and the Forstenrieder Park, it belongs to the “South operating class” of the Munich Forestry Office and is of great importance as a local recreation area for the population, as it offers close-to-home nature experiences and the opportunity for biological and environmental policy education. Pilsensee and Ammersee once formed a unit many years ago. The Kienbach brought with it so many debris deposits that this part separated from the Ammersee. The Pilsensee is approx. 2.5 km long and up to a kilometer wide. There is one of the largest campsites on the bank side of the municipality of Seefeld. Here you will also find a very beautiful beach with shady trees. A good balance, as many areas of the bank are in private hands and not open to the public.
