Location & directionsLocated in the old town ring, it couldn´t be more central!

The central location of the Hotel Altmünchen is perfect for visitors. The location also played a part in the origin of our name, as we are within the old city walls, and therefore in Munich’s historical Altstadt.

This makes the Hotel Altmünchen the perfect starting point for exploring Munich, be it on foot or by public transport. You can easily take shopping trips through the city center, going where the mood takes you. There are very many restaurants, bars and cafés close to the hotel, meaning that there is something to suit all tastes. On foot, you can reach many tourist attractions and cultural highlights, such as the Asamkirche, Marienplatz with the old and new Town Halls, the Viktualienmarkt with its many stands and delicious treats, the Bavarian State Opera, the Munich Kammerspiele, the upscale shopping street Maximilianstrasse, or the Jewish center of Munich with the new main synagogue at Jakobsplatz.

Even the Theresienwiese, home to the Tollwood Winter Festival, the Spring Festival, and above all Oktoberfest, is just a stone’s throw away. As such, you can experience Munich’s fifth season for yourself by taking the U-Bahn or a rickshaw. Of course, we would also be happy to tell you where you can explore the “Wiesn” and Munich’s beer culture all year round!
