The Munich-Nymphenburg Botanical Garden, with an area of 22 hectares and over 400,000 visitors a year, is one of the most important botanical gardens in the world. Around 14,000 plant species are cultivated here.

The Ostpark in the Munich district of Neuperlach was created as part of the building boom in the district. In order to create a new local recreation area, planning for the Ostpark began in the 1960s. The first part of the site was opened in 1975 and the second part in 1979 - together the area covers an area of 56 hectares. The landscape architects created a ring of forested hills, in the middle of which a lake and vast green spaces were created.

Rushing white water and relaxing around the Flauchersteg: The Flaucher stretches from the Brudermühlbrücke via the Hellabrunn Zoo to the southern city limits. The Flaucher systems are up to one kilometer wide. The name "Flaucher" goes back to an inn that the innkeeper Johann Flaucher opened around 1870 in a house on the western bank of the Isar. In summer, the area invites you to relax and grill on the gravel banks.

The construction of Maximilianstrasse, the bridge and the Maximilianeum, designed by Carl von Effner, created a dominant bridgehead on the banks of the Isar, which was intended to stimulate further urban development. The eastern plateau was now connected to the city.

Above the terraces, which is visually of great importance for the park and often viewed as a landmark, the 38 meter high "Angel of Peace" was built between 1896 and 1899. To commemorate the 25 years of peace after 1871, the goddess of peace Nike stands above a small hall based on an ancient model on a 23 meter high column in the axis of Prinzregentenstrasse.

Perlach Forest

The Perlacher Forest is a 13.36 km² community-free forest area in the southeast of Munich. Together with the Grünwalder Forest and the Forstenrieder Park, it belongs to the “South operating class” of the Munich Forestry Office and is of great importance as a local recreation area for the population, as it offers close-to-home nature experiences and the opportunity for biological and environmental policy education. It is particularly easy to reach from the Hotel Perlach Allee by Blattl.

The Poing Wildlife Park is located in a slightly hilly, attractive landscape with forests, meadows and water areas. In the 570,000 square meter wildlife park, native red deer, fallow deer, roe deer, mouflon and wild boar live almost like they would in the wild. The game is very familiar and some even eat out of your hand, even squirrels.

The journey into the underwater world of Sea Life Munich begins at the sources of the Isar and follows the flow of the water over the Black Sea and further into the depths of the ocean. The different habitats along the way are recreated in detail in over 30 elaborately designed pools. There are almost 10,000 animals from over 150 species to see - from mussels to colorful starfish, graceful seahorses, jellyfish, rays and sharks. The “shark light” of the leisure attraction is the 400,000 liter, six meter deep ocean pool, through which an acrylic glass tunnel leads. The sunken city has been located here in the tropical ocean basin since January 2008 and Bavaria's only sea turtle has found its home here.

The surfers on the Eisbach in the English Garden have become an attraction in Munich. The artificial Eisbach wave next to the Haus der Kunst is recommended for safe, trained wave riders. The water shoots out of a tunnel into the stream bed, only 40 cm below is the threshold, which is why the water piles up here. Here surfers can ride the wave and passers-by can watch from the shore or the bridge - spectacular! Definitely worth a visit!
